How it works

Welcome to Krillion Unlimited, a free fan-made "rare answer" game. You get a prompt, like "Name a country in Africa." You have 25 seconds to type an answer. The more obscure your answer, the more points you score.

Common answers are worth little. Obscure picks are worth a lot. Seven prompts make one game, and the top score is 700.

  2. Overplayed15
  3. Solid30
  4. Rare60
  5. Obscure85
  6. Legendary100

Type one answer in 25 seconds

Each prompt gives you 25 seconds to type one answer. A wrong guess costs you nothing but time, so keep trying until the clock runs out.

Rarer answers score more

Answers fall into six tiers, from Common at 10 points to Legendary at 100, so a full game maxes out at 700. See the scoring page for the full breakdown.

Tips for finding rarer answers

Want higher scores? A little strategy goes a long way. These tips work for any prompt, and they will help you find answers fewer players think of. None of them need special knowledge. They are just habits that help you search your memory in a smarter way, one short round at a time.

Skip your first idea

Your first thought is usually the same one everybody has. Say "Border Collie" for dog breeds or "Cheddar" for cheeses and you will score low, because thousands of players type those first. Take a breath and drop that first idea on purpose. Then ask yourself what you would say if that answer were not allowed. The second or third idea is almost always rarer, and it only costs a few seconds.

Think in smaller groups

Big categories hide smaller ones inside. For musical instruments, think of a family such as strings, brass, woodwinds, or keyboards, then look past "Piano" and "Ukulele." For rivers, pick a region first, like Europe or Asia, and go deeper from there. Each sub-group gives you a fresh list to scan, and fewer players ever look that far. Regions, eras, and sub-types all work well, so try a different lens when one runs dry.

Pick real, specific names

Vague answers do not count. Only real names are accepted, so "Big African country" will not work, but "Kenya" or "Ghana" will. Aim for the most specific real name you can recall, not a loose description. A precise name also tells the game exactly what you mean. If you are unsure of a spelling, type your best try, since a close match may still be suggested.

Know when to pass

Sometimes nothing rare comes to mind, and that is fine. A solid answer such as "Gouda" or "Danube" beats a blank screen and still earns points. Watch the clock as you think. If time is almost out, type what you have, or pass and save your energy for the next prompt. A steady score across all seven prompts often beats one big gamble.

Learn from the reveals

After each prompt, the game shows some of the rarer answers you could have given. Read them, because they are free lessons. You will pick up new names, and you may spot a pattern, like which sub-groups tend to hide the best picks. Next time you meet a similar prompt, you will know where to look. Over a few games, your own list of rare answers will grow quickly.
